KUMOTO | China :
Kumoto is a low-cost, small-displacement motorcycle brand of Chinese origin, of the kind that reaches buyers through importers and online marketplaces rather than through any documented factory history. The clearest evidence of it is in the South American retail market, where it appears in Argentine listings, including a Kumoto 125cc model offered through MercadoLibre. A Moto Kumoto 125cc is sold in Argentina via MercadoLibre, advertised with free shipping and interest-free instalments. That places it squarely within the wave of inexpensive Chinese-built and Chinese-sourced machines that now dominate the entry level of the Argentine and wider Latin American markets. In 2025 more than 650,000 motorcycles were registered in Argentina, of which close to 97 percent were of Chinese origin or carried a strong proportion of Chinese-made components, which is the commercial environment a brand like Kumoto sits in.
Beyond that, the small-capacity positioning is consistent with the broader pattern of Chinese manufacturing, where the volume of the home and export markets is concentrated in sub-250cc machines and mopeds, and where many budget badges are built or assembled from Chinese components and distributed under a local importer’s name in each market.
