A & A Scooters, established in 2005 in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, began as a small Chinese manufacturer focused on simple, affordable electric twowheelers. At its inception the company produced only one type of electric moped and a small offroad minibike, both powered by electric motors, reflecting the early wave of lowcost electric mobility emerging in China during the mid2000s. Although modest in scale, A & A Scooters is representative of the first generation of Chinese micromanufacturers that helped popularise electric mopeds and minivehicles domestically and in export markets. The firm’s early products contributed to the rapid expansion of China’s light electric vehicle sector, which would soon become the world’s largest.
