On one of my racers I ran an electronic tacho which was taped to a spark plug lead. As the coil sparked twice for every stroke it read double the engine revs at any given moment. It took one half of milli-second to get used to this fact and race around the track keeping revs under 16,000 not 8,000. Wasn't worth fiddling with.
