Gazelle – Electric Bike – 1937

In 1937 the Dutch Gazelle Bicycle Company introduced the 1st Electric Bike, in partnership with Phillips. The Bike was propelled by a 12V battery and electric motor. Only 117 units were sold.  The bike weighed 50ks, took 24 hours to recharge the battery, had a range of 40km and could reach a speed of 18 km/h.
