A&A Trikes was founded in Stirling, Hastings County, Ontario, by brothers Terry and Dennis Armstrong, longtime riders of BSA, HarleyDavidson, and Triumph motorcycles. Their interest in threewheelers began in 1974, when they acquired a Californiabuilt trike kit and assembled it in a friend’s garage, producing their first machine powered by a Volkswagen engine. Initially the Armstrongs built three trikes for personal use, but growing interest from fellow enthusiasts led them to begin smallscale production around 1980, formally establishing A&A Trikes. Early manufacturing took place in a warehouse beside their father’s garage, with fibreglass bodywork and a chassis developed with the assistance of a structural engineer. A&A’s custombuilt trikes gained a strong local reputation, with many customer machines winning trophies at regional and national shows. Production numbers remain unknown, and the firm eventually shifted away from vehicle building to focus on polyesterbased products, including surfboards and swimming pools.<\/p>\n
