Increased compression is the reason to help with combustion. No point really on a stock engine. The stock heads work well. The way to more power is to change the exhausts for a set of street chambers and rejet the motor. The real benefit comes from cleaning up the intake and exhaust ports and ensuring the motor breathes easy.
