Engine is out of a '72 frame, I gather. The bike is ~30 years old chances are somebody else made the swap years ago. I'd trust production the numbers. Is the engine case stamped 1200cc's oil capacity or 1400cc's? That will only give a positive proof - 1200 means nothing but 1400 means it is probably a '75.
